Advances in data, AI, and how work itself gets organized mean a small team can now credibly aim to operate at large-company scale, fast. But only if it's designed for that scale before it arrives. That takes the right fractional expertise, exactly where and when it's needed.
Fast-growing teams set themselves apart by designing for scale ahead of time.
Every growth-stage company hits the same ceiling: the operating model that carried it this far wasn't built for what is next, and there is rarely time to stop and rebuild it properly. The problem isn't spotting the gap. It's overcoming it without losing momentum.
Nearly two decades spent moving between strategy, sales, operations, risk, and technology in management consulting and finance, including nearly a decade as a business lead incubating technology solutions at Morgan Stanley, pointed to one conclusion: the work worth doing isn't strategy or execution alone. It's both, designing for scale, and building it.
Vencio Consulting is independent by design, not built inside a firm or a large company. That was a deliberate choice: to pick the clients, pick the problems worth solving, and keep room to build toward what is next.
Strategy when you need direction. Execution when you need results. Experience that adapts to whatever the moment demands.
Vikram Vatsalan is the Founder & Principal Consultant of Vencio Consulting. His path here runs through nearly two decades at McKinsey, Citi, and Morgan Stanley, across management consulting, strategy and M&A, merger integration, capital markets, and operating roles inside financial services.
At Morgan Stanley, he incubated a string of transformational technology initiatives: content management, a universal search engine, CRM, big data analytics, visual analytics, an AI virtual assistant, NLP text analysis platforms. The standout was Next Best Action, an internally-built AI-based engine that delivers timely, customized messages to clients and prospects guided by the Financial Advisor, publicly announced by Morgan Stanley. Vikram was primary business lead from incubation through launch, building the team, designing the platform, and leading execution.
He holds degrees from the Wharton School, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and St. Stephen's College, Delhi.
He lives in the New York area with two sons — one human, one poodle — and spends his New York City minutes on stand-up comedy and tango, with mixed reviews from both audiences.
